Director of Sales

This is a high visibility, time and performance sensitive, mission critical and hands on position with individual and team revenue goals reporting to the President. The Director of Sales will be responsible and participate in personal direct sales, and coordinate and manage all aspects of sales, with the responsibility and accountability to maximize profitable revenues by achieving the company’s sales revenue goal. In addition, the Director of Sales is responsible to maximize company exposure and identity and sign up revenue generating strategic partners, provide leadership to sales representatives, account managers and strategic partners in support of indirect and direct sales operations, and to also personally generate, develop and close sales opportunities.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and execute the sales functions to meet pre-established sales and growth objectives of the company according to pre-defined budgets and to maximize the sales and revenue of our products and professional services with assuming responsibility for the contribution to the overall profitability of the company, including and not limited to staffing and building a sales group infrastructure if required.

  • Follow the company’s established sales process to insure the best use of resources and the most economical execution to achieve sales & to further develop & enhance company presentations & product presentations.

  • Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales operation plans, forecasts and budgets.

  • Achieve personal sales goals and take the responsibility for other sales rep annual, quarterly and monthly performance metrics, account goals, revenue and sales goals.

  • Verify the qualification of accounts by account reviews, joining reps on conference calls to the prospect, visiting the prospect, assisting the reps to maximize their productivity.

  • Track progress against forecasts, address issues with other execs.

  • Uses existing sales metrics to review sales performance, enhance metrics appropriately.

  • Take actions when appropriate to modify and adjust performance or replace non-performing individuals.

  • Identify and close major sales and partnership opportunities; negotiate agreements with support from corporate counsel and other executive staff.

  • Develop expertise in our products to make personal demonstrations and the ability to clearly communicate the benefits of our solutions and to take on the responsibility for the education of all reps to develop this expertise

  • Take charge and the responsibility to resolve internal sales and client conflicts.

  • Work with HR; participate in hiring process to build effective orientation & training programs for sales force.

  • Work with senior management team to establish or enhance the business models, organization, target offerings and goals for the Company.

  • Create annual and quarterly sales and sales program plans and budgets for presentation and approval by the executive management team.

  • Work with Professional Services, Engineering & Marketing to expand capabilities and services in respective areas. With the executive & the senior management team establish or enhance procedures & necessary infrastructure for managing sales related operations (e.g., compensation policies, organizational structure, etc.).

  • Create/enhance sales compensation plans in collaboration with HR for review & approval by executive mgmt.

  • Execute and take the responsibility for sales reporting process for sales calls, visits, demos, and trips.

  • Contribute to establish procedures and necessary infrastructure for managing operations, marketing, professional services, product development, and facilities.

  • Develop and execute strategic sales themes and programs for the target market segments.

  • Design and implement sales campaigns including new releases of our products and services.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Successful record of building qualified pipeline, sales and revenues from thousands into multi millions within a short period via direct sales to specific vertical markets with minimum resources.

Successful, enterprise software sales executive with at least 3-5 years of experience at the Sales Manager/ Director of Sales level capable of demonstrating a proven record of personal & team accomplishment with dynamic start ups or early stage companies with limited funding, resources & marketing. The most appropriate experience is enterprise level & consultative sales of technology & services to FDA/OSHA regulated companies.

Proven supervision, training, support and leadership to enable assigned staff to execute their required activities in support of the sales goals of the company.

Successful record of building sales team from the grounds up in start up or early stage companies with limited resources and budgets and managing sales team of more than 10 representatives.

Track record of handling multi-million dollar strategic accounts and team revenues greater than $25M.

Successful track record of executing direct target account programs.

Travel as necessary (25-75%).

BS in technical studies preferred with an MBA

Proficiency with Excel, Power Point, & Word. ERP, workflow, document management & enterprise solutions.
